Particle Swarm Optimization on Wireless Sensor Network

Particle Swarm Optimization is mainly about using sensor nodes and gateways to optimize longer network span and minimize the energy consumed by the sensor nodes. This approach is being implemented by calculating new clustering algorithm to group all sensor nodes and gateways according to routing solution in stored. The sensor nodes will be assigned to only one gateways that is within its communication range after executing routing algorithm. While the routing algorithm is using particle initialization for clustering and fitness function as this solution is more suitable for the proposed clustering.

This method will assigned sensor nodes randomly to nearest gateways and grouping two to three nodes for one gateways according to specific gateways which act as a cluster head (CHs). The heavily used Cluster Heads as next hop relay nodes in data forwarding are assigned lesser number of sensor nodes. Then, it can balanced the energy consumption of the Cluster Heads and increasing network's lifetime. The formation of clustering both sensor and gateways nodes also taking note of its transmission distance and the number of hop-count. The shorter the distance between each nodes transmission, the less energy consumption being used. Thus, the network lifetime is improved. With all the result collected, it can be seen that the proposed algorithm is way better compared to the existing one in terms of total data packets transmission, number of inactive sensor nodes and network life.
